Man United are once again being credited with interest in Leeds United’s Raphinha.
Not too long ago, we covered a claim from Italian journalist, Gianluigi Longari, who claimed the Red Devils were interested in signing Leeds United’s key man Raphinha. At the time, we took it as a pinch of salt. After all, United signing Leeds players doesn’t happen very often…
Well, over the last 24 hours, another source is running a similar story. This time it comes from UOL Esporte. Once again, it’s claimed United are interested in signing the in-form 24-year-old, who is loving live at Elland Road right now.
It does seem as if this one is going somewhere, with Leeds now set to hold an ‘internal meeting’ with the player and his representatives this month.
It’s written that Raphinha’s current form has led to interest, with United the ‘latest club’ eyeing a move for the talented Brazilian.
What’s intriguing here is that Bruno Fernandes could have his role to play. He actually played with Raphinha at Sporting Lisbon, with UOL Esporte stating that the Reds star is in ‘almost daily contact’ with the United target.
Raphinha wouldn’t come cheap, mind. Leeds paid the best part of £20million to sign him last summer. They’d want a significant profit on that, particularly if the Brazilian were to end up at Old Trafford.
In a summer window where money is expected to be tight, I’d be surprised if this move gets completed. After all, Leeds are in no rush to sell, they’re an improving team and Raphinha is key to all of that. This one could have legs in the future, but right now, it just doesn’t make sense from the standpoint of both clubs.
