Man United interested in Matteo Guendouzi as Arsenal future in doubt: report

Manchester United feel like a team who are on the rise, though there is still work to be done by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Baby Faced Assassin has been pretty good when it comes to signing and selling players, and we’re all obviously hoping that continues going into a huge summer for the Red Devils.

Recently, it has felt like we’re seeing the same names linked with an Old Trafford move day-in-day-out. However, in The Sun this morning, a new face has been mentioned; Arsenal’s Matteo Guendouzi…

Apparently, United ‘want’ the 21-year-old midfielder who signed for The Gunners in an £8million deal back in 2012. However, they’ll face competition with both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid also keen.

Furthermore, Guendouzi’s future at The Emirates is in doubt, after Mikel Arteta refused to confirm that the Frenchman will be with the North London club next season…

My initial reaction to this is an underwhelming one. There’s a reason Arsenal are considering selling Guendouzi, while his performances recently haven’t been anywhere near good enough.

The whole incident with Brighton a week or so ago was one of sheer petulance and immaturity. I get that United want to add youth to this squad, but do they really want a character like that infecting the dressing room?

Plus, when you factor in Arsenal will likely want a hefty fee as they don’t want to sell to a direct rival, you’re even more turned off by the deal. I’m hoping there’s no real substance to this story – because it’s not a move I would get behind…
