Man United are looking at Napoli’s Hirving Lozano, as a player who could fill their issues out wide.
It’s common knowledge at this point. Manchester United are absolutely desperate to bring in a new winger during this transfer window. After all, the club lost both Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata. Those holes within the squad have to be filled.
Erik ten Hag has searched far and wide. Perhaps Antony was the top priority. That move looks unlikely. Several other players have been linked with an Old Trafford switch. None seem to be imminent.
Well, Gianluca Di Marzio believes United are looking at Napoli’s Hirving Lozano as a possible option.
According to the report, United are ‘interested’ in the 27-year-old winger. Lozano, who was superb for PSV Eindhoven, before making the move to Napoli, has always shone for his native Mexico, too.
In 2020/21, Lozano scored fifteen goals for Napoli, emerging as one of their key players. Since then, his form has been mixed.
Di Marzio adds that United have ‘asked for information’ on Lozano. While the winger is ‘happy’ at Napoli, a ‘convincing offer’ could convince the player into a transfer. Presumably, that indicates if the wages are big, Lozano could make the switch.
The Mexican is someone who would offer versatility to Ten Hag. At this stage in the transfer window, it may be best to go after one player who can fill a variety of holes, rather than moving for specialists who can only perform in one position.
Lozano is someone who would blow hot and cold. He hasn’t really ever had that week-in-week-out consistency within his game. However, United are desperate, so if the price is right, then this transfer would make sense.
