Man United have seen their £55m bid for Evanilson rejected, though the Reds remain interested in the Brazilian.

Outside of Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United struggled for goals in 2021/22. The Old Trafford club were extremely hit and miss up top, which was arguably the main reason why Ralf Rangnick’s side finished the season poorly.

Erik ten Hag will no doubt be looking to address the goal problem, providing some much-needed help for their number seven.

Enter, Evanilson.

This is a new name linked with a potential Reds switch this summer, with the claim coming from O Jogo in Portugal. Thanks to Sport Witness for the translation.

Apparently, United are ‘preparing a new onslaught’ to sign the 22-year-old striker, following the rejection of an initial bid that totalled around £55m following add-ons and bonuses.

This time, it’s expected that the offer will be ‘closer’ to the £69m mark, a fee that Porto may well find acceptable, though the Portuguese outfit would prefer to keep their star striker at the club.

Apparently, United would have faced competition from Brighton and Wolverhampton Wanderers, though as you’d imagine, those sides have been ‘scared off’ by Porto’s transfer demands.

Evanilson enjoyed a great 2021/22 campaign, scoring 21 goals in 46 matches, while also adding five assists on top of that.

There’s also some hope in the fact that Porto need to raise some funds this summer. There’s a good chance they could cash in on the United-linked midfielder Vitinha, or possibly Evanilson.

Either way, it does feel like United have had plenty of scouts undertake work in Portugal over the last few months, with the Reds consistently whispered to be interested in Primeira Liga players.
