Man United are keen on signing Jarrad Branthwaite this summer.
Manchester United will absolutely be signing a centre-half of quality this summer. At least one. Possibly two. The Old Trafford club are losing Raphael Varane, whereas Jonny Evans’ future remains up in the air also.
The name most-linked with filling the void is Jarrad Branthwaite. The England international enjoyed a top season for Everton, thus, the crows are starting to circle for his signature; United included.
There can be no doubt that the Everton man would be a quality addition, given his class and the longevity he’d offer.
Sky Sports News have given their take on the Branthwaite front, claiming that United are indeed ‘interested’ in signing the Premier League defender.
However, Branthwaite would not come cheaply, as Everton value him at around the £60-70m mark. The Reds are ‘big admirers’ of the 21-year-old, who continues to go from strength to strength as a footballer.

As things stand, United appear to be the early leaders in the race to sign Branthwaite. As we gear up towards the summer, I have no doubt that interest in the Englishman will grow.
It could make sense for the Reds to make their push early, in order to get a deal over the line sooner to minimise the competition. For example, if a club with Champions League football on offer came in for Branthwaite, United’s job would become much harder.
I understand money may be tight for the Old Trafford club this time around, so it would be a risk spending big early, then relying on selling players to fund further transfer moves. However, if Branthwaite is a player that INEOS truly believe in, it’s all about getting this deal over the line quickly.
