Man United are showing an interest in signing Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.
When Manchester United lost Cristiano Ronaldo, the initial discussion about who should replace the attacker began.
Bringing someone in during the mid-season window was always going to be tough. We’ll have to wait and see how January shapes up before we can fully evaluate the situation.
Several names have already been linked with filling the void left by Ronnie. The latest certainly intrigues me; Joao Felix.
The man from Portugal has all the ability in the world, though after signing for Atletico Madrid in a big-money move, he’s largely flattered to deceive.
Diario AS reports per the Daily Mail, that the club are now ‘ready to sell’ Felix as early as January.
United are showing an interest in signing the talented 23-year-old, though they’ll face competition from Bayern Munich and PSG to get this move done in the winter window.
Felix has spent far too much time on the Atletico Madrid bench. That obviously hasn’t helped the player fulfil his potential. Here in Manchester, he’d be a sure-fire starter on a regular basis. That can only be good for his confidence and mindset.
Beating out PSG and Bayern is not going to be easy. They both have Champions League football on the table and that could well turn Felix’s head – particularly as both can easily match United in terms of weekly wage, too.
Felix’s versatility would be a huge asset for Erik ten Hag, should United somehow be able to pull this deal over the line. I just don’t see it happening, sadly. The Reds have already spent big money this season and if the Glazers are gearing up to cash in on United, why would they spend more money…?
