Man United have eyes on Fulham midfielder, Joao Palhinha, as we gear up towards the opening of the summer transfer window.
Manchester United’s summer spending will not start until a final decision is made on the future of Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman’s fate is set to be sorted this week.
That isn’t stopping massive amounts of transfer rumours springing up in the media, particularly as the window officially opens this coming Friday. Several names across a variety of positions have already been linked with filling gaping holes within the squad. No doubt these stories will continue to ramp up over the coming weeks.
Today’s claim comes from the usually reliable Kaveh Solhekol, who took to X to confirm United are eyeing a move to bring in Fulham midfielder, Joao Palhinha.
According to his information, United are said to be ‘interested’ in signing the 28-year-old Premier League midfielder, though the Reds face heavy competition. Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also said to be keen.

Fulham value Joao Palhinha at double £30m bid they have rejected from Bayern Munich. Barcelona and Man United also interested but Barcelona have financial issues and there’s uncertainty surrounding managerial situation at United. No release clause in Palhinha’s contract.

This week, Fulham have turned down a £30m bid from Bayern for the Portuguese midfielder, which hints that the Cottagers are after a significantly higher transfer fee in order to let one of their prized assets leave. There is no release clause in Palhinha’s contract.
I have been mightily impressed with Palhinha over the last couple of seasons and I can totally understand why United are keen on bringing him in. He plays with genuine quality every single time he takes to the field, while he’d feel a major need for this Reds squad, which is lacking in depth in that defensive midfielder role.
I do wonder whether the price would ramp up for United, due to the fact that Palhinha would be playing for a direct rival here in the Premier League. That said, this would be a very smart piece of business if the price is right.
