Man United have added centre-half Joules Kounde to their transfer radar.
Despite the fact that the January transfer window has only just passed by, Manchester United are already plotting for the summer.
In the week or so since the mid-season transfer period slammed shut, we’ve been covering stories-upon-stories linking the Red Devils with a move for a centre-half.
I mean, it’s a pretty obvious claim to make given the unreliability that United’s current centre-halves are showing at the moment.
The centre-back scored against FC Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final last time out, while keeping a clean-sheet and putting his side in a commanding position against the Catalan side.
It’s stated that United are interested in signing the improving 22-year-old defender, who is also attracting interest from Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and even PSG.
AS add that City actually saw a £48.3m (€55m) rejected in the summer. However, Sevilla are holding on until their £70m (€80m) release clause is inevitably met.
So who is Joules Kounde?
Well, the Frenchman looks like an impressive young man who is only going to improve. He already has over 130 professional appearances under his belt, while appearing for France U21s on five occasions.
AS adds that over the years, Sevilla’s main source of income has been cash through player sales. It’s stated that this one could be the ‘most important sale’ over the last twenty years. That alone should tell you all about his talent.
For United, it’s still about finding the ideal partner for Harry Maguire. Kounde would bring that youthful exuberance to the table, but this move would be a gamble given his young age…
