Man United interested in signing Kaoru Mitoma from Brighton

Man United are among the sides who are interested in signing Kaoru Mitoma from Brighton.

With the January transfer window now done and dusted, planning for a massive summer transfer window is well underway for Manchester United Football Club.

The Red Devils, managed by Erik ten Hag, will be looking for those players who can take this team to the next level. Identifying and signing those players is easier said than done due to FFP restrictions, coupled with a dip in performances from the club. United is no longer the destination it once was.

Well, the rumours are already starting. This time, it’s Kaoru Mitoma being linked with a potential United switch. Fichajes provide the story.

The Spanish media outlet state that United are among the sides interested in signing the 26-year-old winger, though they’ll face heavy competition for the player, with Manchester City and Chelsea also keen.

Mitoma, hailing from Japan, was simply stunning for Brighton last season, scoring goals for fun and looking like a real menace off the wing. He may have taken a step back this term, though the talent and ability is still there.

There can be no doubt he’d add an awful lot of quality to any club side in world football, though that will come at a price. Brighton are under no pressure to sell, leaving them in a position to be able to demand an absolute fortune to sell Mitoma. Is that the area where United can best spend their money? I’m not so sure, particularly as Alejandro Garnacho continues to thrive from out wide.

I also don’t believe United have any chance at signing Mitoma if City show any sort of serious interest. They’re just a wholly more attractive destination right now, minus the 115 charges they’ve been accused of…
