Manchester United’s Luke Shaw cleaned up at the Player of the Year awards night, winning both the fans and players Player of the Year honour. Next season, he might not have it so easy…
According to a report from The Telegraph, United are amongst a number of clubs interested in signing Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon.
The 18-year-old, who was vital during Fulham’s promotion campaign a year ago, struggled during his first season in the Premier League – although the talent he possesses is still clear and obvious.
With just a year left on his deal, Fulham will be forced into selling Sessegnon this summer, or they’ll lose him for free in twelve month’s time.
At this point, Tottenham Hotspur are apparently leading the charge, although United, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig are also keen.
Sessegnon’s versatility is his biggest selling point. Not only can the Englishman start as a left-back he’s also an adequate left-winger too; although he faces stiff competition from the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in that area of the field.
Following interest in Daniel James, I’m pleased to see United seemingly changing their transfer strategy. Going for young up-and-comers rather than splashing the cash on the marquee signings is certainly the correct move at this point in time.
