Manchester United have been given a massive update in regards to their pursuit of a certain Englishman this summer. Yep, that’s right, the pace is picking up at Jadon Sancho negotiations reach an advanced stage.
The story comes from the usually excellent Fabrizio Romano, who took to Twitter to confirm the news earlier today. Apparently, United negotiations with Borussia Dortmund for the superstar are now at an ‘advanced stage’.
Furthermore, United always wanted to pay him using add-ons and bonuses after the virus, all of which are probably very reachable. There is still no agreement in place but talks are ongoing.
In regards to personal terms, those wouldn’t be a problem on a contract that would run until June 2025. Sancho is now waiting to see if the clubs can reach an agreement – though the player wants the move to happen.
What’s intriguing is that Romano says BVB are the ones doing the pushing as they want to sort out a replacement. This could play into United’s hands as they look to land Sancho for as cheap as possible.
With the Sancho negotiations now at an advanced stage, you get the feeling that things are moving in the right direction for United. An August 10th deadline has been talked up before, so by that measure, the Reds have one week to get a deal done.
Will it happen?
Our opinion is that the deal will be done, eventually. Perhaps it’ll go beyond August 10th, but United have seemingly identified their number one transfer target and they’re working hard to come to an agreement.
With the fees being so large, these transfers always take time as both sides look to get the best possible deal. The sooner it goes through, though, the better for all involved.
The thought of Sancho running down the right-wing for United next season is exciting, though.
