For Manchester United, the right-wing position has been a problematic one. It’s an area in which the club have had no real go-to option since Cristiano Ronaldo left.
Now, it seems as though the Red Devils are trying to fix that issue. Jadon Sancho’s name has been mentioned recently, although today, another face has been thrown into the ring.
That’s according to the Daily Mail. who say that United have joined in on the chase to sign Chelsea’s top teenager, Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Apparently, the 18-year-old is no closer to penning a new deal at Stamford Bridge; which his current contract running out in 2020. That’s obviously down to a lack of first-team appearances.
United won’t be alone in pursuit of the Englishman, however. Bayern Munich have already had a bid rejected, while Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool are both keen too.
I think it’s telling that Gareth Southgate felt comfortable giving Hudson-Odoi an England call-up despite the fact that he’s yet to start a Premier League game this season. His ability is obviously clear and now he needs the regular club minutes to shine.
If United are willing to offer that to him then so be it. I feel he’d be a stunning upgrade on what we already have in that area.
