The Glazer family, Edward Woodward and Manchester United need a huge summer transfer window. Money will have to be spent not only to improve the current squad, but replace players who could potentially leave.
According to The Express, amongst the players wanting out is Romelu Lukaku. The forward is planning an exit with Juventus and Inter Milan both keen on his signature. That has seemingly forced United into action as they look for a potential replacement…
Apparently, the man they’re eyeing is Lille forward Nicholas Pepe. The 23-year-old has scored 20 goals in Ligue 1 this season, with United impressed with scouting reports on the youngster.
However, the £60million-rated Pepe is also being targeted by Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp enquiring about his availability earlier this month.
I think bringing youth into the squad is the way to go. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a huge rebuilding job on his hands and this is going to take several years. It makes sense to give him time, let him bring in the players he wants, players that suit his system and ideologies. So often United have gone for the big-name signing then work out where he’ll play later, rather than going for a player that is the perfect fit.
It’s time for a change, Pepe would be an astute signing and an ideal replacement for Lukaku who seemingly wants to leave.
