It was only last summer when Ryan Sessegnon was being highly talked about as he helped Fulham win promotion to the Premier League.

Twelve months later, his stock has fallen dramatically after a poor campaign. However, with The Cottagers resigned to relegation, it seems as though the teenager will be on the move.

Manchester United are amongst the interested parties according to the Daily Mirror, although Tottenham Hotspur are currently leading the charge for the 18-year-old’s signature.

The Mirror’s report says that United are ‘very keen’ on the left-back who could be available for relatively cheap considering he has just one year left on his current contract.

On first thought, you question whether this would make sense due to Luke Shaw’s impressive form recently. However, when you delve deeper, it’s a move that makes plenty of sense.

Shaw is banned for the next two fixtures, as is Ashley Young. Who’s going to play at left-back? I have absolutely no idea. Shaw needs back-up. He has had injury struggles in the past and the likes of Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo just aren’t good enough.

United are trying to bring some youthful exuberance to this squad, signing Sessegnon would be a gamble worth taking in my opinion…
