Man United have added Getafe midfielder, Mauro Arambarri, to their list of transfer targets.
Although signing a new centre-back seems to be atop Manchester United’s priority list, adding another midfielder wouldn’t go amiss, either.
United are interested in signing the ‘cheap and good’ 25-year-old midfielder, who would cost the Old Trafford club around £25.8m (€30m). To that end, the board deem Arambarri the ‘perfect option’. We all know how much the Glazer family love to penny pinch, and in this day and age, that’s quite a bargain for an established midfield player.
As Sport Witness state, the credibility of Trapasos is unknown at this point. They’re a blog/social feed who provide transfer updates strictly on Uruguay players and as of right now, this hasn’t been backed up by a major source.
However, as a player, Arambarri has played 34 times for a La Liga team this season, so it would be unfair to claim he’s not talented.
In terms of his overall fit, I don’t know enough about his playing style to comment. At this stage, though, the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred continue to be hit and miss. Maybe a shake-up would jolt both into action, just as Alex Telles did to Luke Shaw when the Brazilian arrived at United in the last summer window.
As of right now, I’d take this one with a pinch of salt and wait to see if any major outlets back up these claims. Simply put, I wouldn’t be going out there and watching Arambarri YouTube compilations just yet!
