Manchester United’s attack has looked toothless over the last few months, with Jose Mourinho’s men struggling for consistent goals output outside of Anthony Martial.
Now, it looks as though the self-proclaimed Special One is going to try and address that issue when the January transfer window opens.
According to the Daily Mirror, per The Express, United are keen on signing West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic in January, with the club looking to bid £50million for the Austrian striker.
The striker has been in good form this term, scoring five goals already, despite missing several matches with injury. That excellent goals output has led Mourinho to believe that the 29-year-old can fire United to a top-four finish this season.
I like Arnautovic, I think it’d be an underrated signing. Not only will he help our goals column pretty considerably, it’d also push Romelu Lukaku harder in training as he’d have some real competition.
The obvious concern, though, is his age. At 29, you’d get maybe two or three good seasons out of Arnautovic, before you’d have to look at replacing him once again. Personally, I think it’s time to give Marcus Rashford a real run in the team through the middle first. Why not allow him an opportunity before the January transfer window opens?
