Man United are still in active talks over the signing of Noussair Mazraoui, who is viewed as the ideal option for the Reds.
Manchester United Football Club’s summer transfer window has somewhat stalled. No progress has been made on signings for a couple of weeks now, largely due to the fact that the Reds are in a situation where they have to sell before they can buy.
The next position it looks like United want to address is right-back. It’s why Aaron Wan-Bissaka is now being heavily linked with an Old Trafford departure this summer. His imminent exit will raise the required funds, while also creating a space in the squad, to bring someone in.
The name most linked with coming in is FC Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui.
All had gone somewhat quiet on that front – until this morning. Fabrizio Romano has provided an encouraging update, claiming that United are ‘keeping contacts active’ over the signing.
Once again, it’s reiterated that this transfer will not happen until Wan-Bissaka leaves, while United consider Mazraoui as an ‘ideal option’ for Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Understand Man United consider Mazraoui as ideal option as he's also able to play as LB, when/if needed. pic.twitter.com/lWRukgnnMe
The Moroccan’s ability to play at both left and right-back is why Ten Hag is pushing so hard for this signing. At times last season, Diogo Dalot had to play over on the left due to the mass injuries in that area of the field. It’s a scenario United are looking to try and avoid this time around.
Mazraoui, who is seemingly ready to depart Bavaria, is keen on a reunion with Ten Hag at the Theatre of Dreams. I find it telling that so many of the Dutchman’s former players want to work with him again. They truly believe in his ability as a coach.
Hopefully, we’re not kept waiting for too much longer on this one.
