Man United keeping tabs 28-year-old striker: report

Manchester United have been sublime of late. That’s all down to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, this squad isn’t good enough to fight it out on all fronts. With a poor summer transfer window only just forgotten about, the club have to back their manager this time around.

The transfer rumours are already beginning to swirl, and the latest comes from Spain, namely Mundo Deportivo, who say that the Red Devils are keeping tabs on Sevilla striker, Wissam Ben Yedder.

It was about twelve months ago when the 28-year-old Frenchman dumped the Red Devils out of the Champions League at Old Trafford, with Ben Yedder scoring twice in a Sevilla win. He’s continued that good form into this campaign, scoring 26 games, while tacking on eight assists in just 42 appearances.

Firstly, this leaves me curious. Do United need another front man? Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are brilliant options in that area of the field, so perhaps it’s Ben Yedder’s versatility that intrigues our manager.

There’s no doubt that he’d strengthen the overall playing squad, but I’m just not sure we’d be able to give him regular minutes as a starter. If he were bought, the chances are he’d be used as an impact substitute or a rotational option, but who’s to say he’d be happy with that…?
