Man United are weighing up a possible move for Andrew Moran.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United have been built on developing youth. From Marcus Rashford to Scott McTominay, to the overflowing array of talent that’s knocking on the first-team door.
As the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That’s exactly why the Old Trafford club continue to be linked with moves for talented players all across the globe. The latest prospect to be linked with a Reds switch is Brighton’s Andrew Moran.
The story comes from TEAMTalk, who state that United are amongst the sides ‘keeping close tabs’ on the talented attacking midfielder, who has 22 goal contributions at youth level this season (11 goals, 11 assists).
Chelsea are also named as potential suitors for the brilliant Irishman, who only made the move to the AMEX Stadium just last summer.
Understandably, Brighton have zero interest in letting the 17-year-old leave this summer, as they presumably want to keep him, with a view to potentially using him at first-team level in the not too distant future.
It goes without saying, if this deal is sanctioned, it’s highly unlikely Moran will be making an immediate impact within the first-team setup. Instead, he’d probably stay with the U23s for a year or so, before being gradually drip-fed minutes – provided he’s good enough, of course.
If United can get him relatively cheaply, why not take the risk? These sorts of transfers are always low risk, high reward, though they’re always a gamble as you never know if Moran is going to develop enough to make it at the highest level.
I say, why not go for it? We have absolutely nothing to lose.
