Now, he’s back in the headlines again. This time its Football Insider with the story. They say that United are ‘keeping tabs’ on the 20-year-old midfielder ahead of a potential summer move.
According to the story, the Reds have ‘launched several scouting missions’ on the man who has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Celta Vigo in La Liga.
United remain in the market for a new central midfielder, with club scouts returning with ‘rave reviews’ about Veiga’s performances.
Adding some youthful exuberance to the midfield does make sense. Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and even Fred aren’t youngsters anymore. They aren’t able to start week-in-week-out every single game, so trying to find someone who can replace them in the long-term seems smart.
Veiga is someone who has only been playing senior football for a couple of years now, though it’s clear he is immensely gifted and has potential to go all the way to the top.
United will not have it all their own way in this chase, though, with Real Madrid, Arsenal and Newcastle United all showing an interest in bringing in the Spaniard.
