Man United have eyes on emerging left-back, Miguel Gutierrez.

Manchester United have had their left-back injury issues this season. We’re yet to see Tyrell Malacia play a single game this term, while Luke Shaw has consistently picked up problems that have ruled him out for prolonged periods.

As a result, Erik ten Hag has had to resort to using both Victor Lindelof and Sofyan Amrabat at left-back of late. It’s something the gaffer would clearly like to fix in the summer. Hence, United are consistently being linked with different left-backs.

The latest name added to that ever-growing catalogue is Miguel Gutierrez. The Spaniard is in outstanding form this season, playing his part for a Girona side who are pushing Real Madrid and Barcelona unexpectedly hard in the title race.

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, per The Sun, United are ‘keeping tabs’ on the 22-year-old left-back ahead of the summer window.

The player is now a priority for Ten Hag, with United having tracked the player for ‘months’. Back in January, SunSport also reported that the club sent a scout to ‘closely observe’ Gutierrez, who continues to improve as a player.

What’s interesting here is that this isn’t the first time United have shown an interest in Gutierrez. Jose Mourinho was keen on bringing the player in as a 16-year-old back in 2017, when he was rising through the ranks at Real Madrid.

Beating out Madrid for his signature at this time may also prove to be tough. Gutierrez made the move to Girona in 2022, as they still hold 50% of his rights, while there’s also a buy-back clause available to Los Blancos. That fee stands at around £7m for them.

United, on the other hand, would have to pay around £30m to bring in the talented left-back.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Miguel Gutierrez would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.

  1. Well done to Rashford. Wrong decision of substituting Rashford. It is not right that Man.Utd fail to be consistent in their playing and momentum. All the work of one player is wasted. Dalot is one fine player that is consistent. What is the position of our coach at this rate?
