Man United keeping tabs on Hartlepool goalkeeper Brad Young: report

Since Sir Alex Ferguson decided to walk away from the beautiful game, Manchester United have encountered problem-after-problem.

The Red Devils have struggled across all aspects, most notably in the transfer market. However, one position they have gotten extremely right is in between the sticks.

Credit to the coaching staff and managers, who have worked wonders with the likes of David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Dean Henderson and others.

Anyway, yesterday’s Sun on Sunday linked the Red Devils to another young up-and-comer; Brad Young.

Apparently, United are keeping tabs on the talented 17-year-old shot-stopper, though they’ll face competition for his signature, with Arsenal also checking up on the 6’4 giant.

Young signed his first professional deal over the summer that’s just gone and has already earned a call-up for the England youth side.

If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. United need to go with what works for them and that’s signing young players. In terms of Young, 17, nobody knows how he’ll develop and grow as a player, but the best place for him is somewhere that has had success with teenagers (goalkeepers in particular) over the not too distant past. Why not see if that trick can be repeated?

Sure, the path isn’t easy as De Gea has signed a new contract, Romero is probably the best back-up in football while Henderson is crying out for his opportunity. But for United, it’s definitely worth the risk.
