Man United keeping tabs on Kingsley Coman: report

Man United are named as one potential suitor for French winger, Kingsley Coman.

With the January transfer window just on the horizon, the transfer rumours start to ramp up.

Although I’d be highly surprised if Manchester United make any big moves in the mid-season window, you can bet your bottom dollar that the groundwork is being laid down for a big summer of moves – both incoming and outgoing.

The likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata could all well depart Old Trafford in six months’ time. Those bodies are going to need to be replaced.

That’s where Kingsley Coman comes in. According to Mundo Deportivo, United are one of the sides showing an interest in the top-class 25-year-old. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are also named as potential suitors.

Apparently, those sides are ‘awaiting the status of negotiations’ between Coman’s agent and his current club, Bayern Munich, over a new contract. The Frenchman’s current deal expires in 2023.

If no agreement is reached then it’s claimed Coman could be available at an ‘affordable price’ in the summer of 2022. That’s because Bayern wouldn’t want to risk losing him for free.

One potential problem could be Coman’s salary. MD say that his wage demands will be ‘very high’. Likely because the transfer fee will be reduced due to his contractual situation.

Coman is a winner. He’s won everywhere he’s been and that will not change. However, I have to wonder whether he’d fit into the 4-2-2-2 system that Ralf Rangnick is trying to employ right now.

There is little-to-no with in terms of attacking wingers. That’s Coman’s best position. Our manager likes his forward-thinking players to be deployed in that number ten role. Can Coman adjust and adapt to that?
