Man United ‘keeping tabs’ on RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo

Man United have eyes on RB Leipzig midfielder, Dani Olmo, ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United seem to be in the market for a new midfielder this summer, with Erik ten Hag looking to bolster a key area of the field.

Several midfield players have already been linked with an Old Trafford switch. No doubt those will continue as we edge towards the market opening.

Today, Dani Olmo’s name has been thrown into the mix. It comes from SportBild (Wednesday print edition), with the translation coming via Sport Witness.

According to their report, United are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old midfielder.

RB Leipzig are currently fourth in the Bundesliga, and if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, they’ll have to take measures to sort out their finances – that could include selling some players.

Olmo is named as a player who could be up for grabs due to his contract expiring in 2024. Around €40m (£35m) has been touted as enough to get a deal done.

SportBild suggest that, rather than waiting to leave on a free next summer, he is more ‘leaning’ towards a transfer away during the upcoming summer window. As things stand, Olmo, his family and agent are considering approaches from the Premier League – with United at the front of the queue.

Apparently, the Red Devils have asked about Olmo’s future plans – hinting they could be keen on making a move. Ten Hag has been told Champions League football is a must if they’re to convince the player to join.

There can be no doubt that this would be an astute piece of business if the club could pull it off. Though I’d be surprised if there wasn’t serious competition for Olmo’s signature.

Do you think a Man United move for Dani Olmo would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
