Manchester United Football Club have scouts far and wide in an effort to sign the best players all across the globe.
Over the summer, the Red Devils developed a tendency to stick closer to home – acquiring a trio of players, all of whom who plied their trade in English football at the time.
Anyway, last night, The Mirror ran a story linking the Old Trafford outfit with another player who is currently on English soil…
Apparently, United are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old winger Matheus Periera, who is currently impressed on loan at Championship side West Bromwich Albion – though Sporting Lisbon is actually the Brazilian’s parent club.
West Brom currently hold the option to sign Pereira for £8.25m, but The Mirror add that it won’t put off other potential suitors from getting themselves in the mix.
The problem I have is this: Pereira has spent the last three seasons on loan and away from Sporting. With respect to the Portuguese outfit, moving to United would be another step up. If he can’t get into their side, surely it’s going to be equally (if not more) tough to break into the team at Old Trafford?
I get it, United are heading in a new (positive) direction at the moment, but for me, this one wouldn’t be a risk worth taking… We need proven quality over on that right-hand side, not another talent.
