Man United are leading the race to sign PSG full-back, Achraf Hakimi, this summer.
As we gear towards a huge summer transfer window, Manchester United have several gaps that they have to fill in this squad.
A new striker should remain the top priority, though talk of a new right-sided defender has also been common. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been deemed surplus to requirements in the past. Whether plans for the Englishman have changed due to his brilliant form recently remains to be seen.
Well, United continue to be linked with moves to sign right-backs. This time around it’s PSG’s Achraf Hakimi, according to Football Insider.
According to their report, United are now ‘better positioned’ than rivals Chelsea to complete the signing, with the Reds ‘prepared to move’ for the 24-year-old full-back.
PSG have ‘made it clear’ they’re open to offers for the Moroccan, with the Ligue 1 giants frustrated at their lack of European success, thus, they’re prepared to undertake a major overhaul of the squad.
Chelsea are struggling to put together a financial package to sign Hakimi due to their big spending over the last couple of transfer windows, whereas United are willing to meet the £50-60m asking price to sign the defender.
It is understood that Hakimi is ‘open’ to a Premier League switch this summer. He’d hope to join a club with Champions League football on the table.
United are now looking good to finish inside the top four, though they have to finish the season strong in order to make that a certainty.
There can be no doubt that Hakimi would be a better stylistic fit than what we currently have at the club, though signing him would take a large chunk out of the transfer budget.
