Man United learn Jarrad Branthwaite asking price amid interest

Man United have learned how much it’d cost to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton this summer.

Manchester United have been somewhat heavily linked with a move to sign a new centre-back during the upcoming summer transfer window. Among the names the Reds are apparently looking at is Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.

The Englishman has gone from strength-to-strength this season, for an Everton side that have had their own problems – both on and off the field.

As a result, Europe’s top sides are starting to take note of Branthwaite. Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur has provided the latest in that front, claiming the Reds will face competition from Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur for his signature.

United, along with the other interested parties, have also learned the asking price for the 21-year-old transfer target. The player will cost £42.7m (50m euro), which, all things considered, seems fairly reasonable.

Check out Ekrem Konur’s X post on the information here:

No doubt Everton themselves are hoping for a bidding war to begin as we edge closer to the summer, though a lot can change between now and then. If the Liverpool-based side are relegated for instance, their hand may be forced as Branthwaite isn’t going to want to play Championship football next season.

Every time I’ve watched Branthwaite, I’ve been mightily impressed. He looks like a defender who plays with a real maturity beyond his years, while the eventual winner of his signature are getting a calm individual who reads the game extremely well. He feels like the perfect partner for Lisandro Martinez in the long term.

If Branthwaite is leaving Goodison Park this season, United have to give him every reason to choose them as his next home. A top four finish would certainly help out in that regard, though that’s easier said than done.

No doubt Branthwaite’s ears may be a little more open if United were to move on from a centre-back or two in order to create an immediate pathway through into the starting line-up, too. I’m looking at you, Raphael Varane…
