Man United learn Marcel Sabitzer asking price

Man United have been told how much it would cost to sign Marcel Sabitzer permanently.

On transfer deadline day, Manchester United made their move to bring in Marcel Sabitzer. The Austrian was an absolutely necessary signing following the injuries to both Donny van de Beek and more recently, Christian Eriksen.

Sabitzer was thrown straight in at the deep end, starting back-to-back games against fierce rivals, Leeds United. The current Bayern Munich loanee played excellently in that double-header, justifying United’s decision to bring him in.

As you’d expect, rumours surrounding United bringing in Sabizter on a permanent deal started to swirl. Now, the club have learned how much he’d cost.

It’s BILD with the claim, thanks to the Daily Mail for the translation. They state that around £18m would be enough to get the deal done, with Bayern open to negotiating with United over the summer.

The German giants are eager to make a profit on Sabitzer, who has been a fringe player recently for Bayern, before making the short-term move to Manchester.

Sabitzer definitely seems to be enjoying his early time here in Manchester, though a lot can happen between now and the end of the season. As things stand, this feels like a smart signing for a player who can add an awful lot to not only the starting line-up, but the squad on the whole.

The problem for United could well be that Sabitzer continues to play well, leading Bayern to giving the midfielder another chance over in Bavaria. I guess, at the end of the day, it all comes down to what the player wants. It’s also worth noting Sabitzer may not be a regular starter here in Manchester when everyone is fit.
