Man United could have been handed a potential boost in pursuit of Erik ten Hag.

No doubt the club is working extremely hard behind the scenes as they hunt for a new permanent manager.

Several names have been linked. I don’t doubt many more will follow before the appointment is made.

We’re now approaching the back end of March. I’d like to think a new boss will be firmly in place before the end of the campaign.

Perhaps the front runner at this moment is time is Erik ten Hag. The current Ajax coach is probably thinking he’s done all he can in the Eredivisie, with a jump up in class potentially on the horizon.

Well, United have been given a boost in their potential chase of the Dutchman. According to The Metro, the United-linked manager is ‘ready to leave’ his current club at the end of this season. Regardless of whether the Old Trafford club make him an offer.

Ten Hag rumours have been pretty rife over the last couple of months. To me, this does feel like a great fit.

As it stands, he’s neck-and-neck with Mauricio Pochettino atop of Manchester United’s wish list. Both are under contract. Both will cost a significant amount in compensation, so United will have to get this hire absolutely right.

What’s interesting is that the Metro claim United are ‘leaning’ in Ten Hag’s direction after an impressive interview. If you couple that with PSG’s topsy-turvy form under Pochettino, you can understand why the Reds are favouring the Dutchman.

As a gut feeling, Ten Hag feels like a great fit. He’s someone who has shown a willingness to work with youth, rather than spending massive money on the marquee names. As we all know, that’s one of United’s most deep rooted beliefs.

Whoever the club eventually appoint, it’s up to us fans to get fully behind the new manager. We have to remain patient. We have to show support. We have to trust the process.
