Man United-linked midfielder suffers devastating injury blow, rules out transfer this month

Man United have been linked with several midfielders already this summer, including Nottingham Forest’s Danilo. However, that transfer will definitely not be happening following a brutal injury.

Manchester United are now looking to strengthen in the middle of the park, following completing deals to sign both defenders and attackers. Although Casemiro has looked better over the last couple of games, the man from Brazil cannot do it all on his own.

Recently, the Old Trafford club were said to be eyeing a potential move to sign Danilo from Nottingham Forest. The Reds were said to have made an enquiry about acquiring the the Brazilian just last week.

However, a transfer this month has been completely ruled out, as the BBC report that Danilo suffered a devastating injury yesterday. The 23-year-old has broken his ankle, meaning his season could already be over…

This is just brutal and I feel so sorry for the player who showed such promising signs last season. Danilo is a mainstay in that Forest midfield and he was a brilliant player to watch.

I do hope the injury doesn’t completely end his campaign and there’s potentially a small chance he can get back fit before next May. It just shows that football can be a cruel game sometimes.

Obviously, this ends United’s pursuit of Danilo, at least for the next twelve months anyway. For the Red Devils, they now have about two weeks to move onto other midfield targets. I still believe Manuel Ugarte is the number one option for Erik ten Hag, though whether they can generate the funds to sign the Uruguayan is another matter entirely.

We wish Danilo the best of luck in his recovery.
