Man United are weighing up a potential move to sign Konrad Laimer.
It’s crystal clear that Manchester United need to undertake a major overhaul job. It’s probably too much to do in one window, but the Red Devils have to make a concerted effort to start that process this summer.
Players will leave, others will be brought in to replace them. Don’t forget a new manager will also be hired. With that comes fresh ideas and theories. Ralf Rangnick should have a massive say on all that, given he’s worked with this squad for months now.
A raid on some of Rangnick’s own clubs for players he has worked with in the past has always made sense. After all, he knows the qualities that this squad needs, while working with guys in the past who fit those holes perfectly. Enter, Konrad Laimer.
Bild, as translated by BuliNews, link United with a move to sign the 24-year-old midfielder. The Reds, along with Tottenham Hotspur, are keeping tabs on the current RB Leipzig midfielder.
Rangnick knows the player well, having worked together in the Bundesliga. He’s now pushing for the Red Devils to sign the Austrian.
Laimer has a contract that expires in 2023, meaning he could well be available for relatively cheap this coming summer as he enters into the final twelve months of his current terms
The Austrian was in the spotlight last weekend, scoring twice and assisting once in Leipzig’s 4-1 victory over Dortmund.
By trade, Laimer is a defensive midfielder and anyone who has watched us at all this season knows that’s a genuine position of need. It definitely makes sense for the Old Trafford club to at least put the feelers out there and see if the midfielder would be interested in a switch to the Theatre of Dreams.
