Man United youngster Jacob Carney has been named Brighouse AFC Player of the Month after signing for the club on loan back in October.

Short-term moves away from Old Trafford have helped many-a-young Red Devil develop their game. From David Beckham way-back-when, to the likes of Jesse Lingard, it offers the youth of tomorrow a chance to showcase their talents.

Jacob Carney is one of twelve United players currently out on loan, though he’s actually playing in the lowest tier. Right now, he’s plying his trade for Brighouse Town AFC.

However, Carney was actually named their October Player of the Month, despite only signing for the club a little over two weeks ago back on October 16th. He took to social media to admit he was ‘buzzing’ to have won the honour.

Whichever way you look at it, taking just two weeks to win a month-long award is pretty impressive. Fifteen bottles of Budweiser isn’t the worst price, either!

What now for Man United youngster Jacob Carney?

Obviously, you start as you mean to go on. This is just the beginning for Carney, who’ll no doubt be looking to follow in Dean Henderson’s footsteps. He too, started from the bottom and gradually progressed up through the leagues. Now, he’s a regular player within the first-team setup at United.

The good news is that we’ve been brilliant at developing goalkeepers over the last decade. No doubt Carney is hoping he follows that same path. The bad news? We’re incredibly well-stocked in that area of the field and you’d imagine it’ll be at least a couple of seasons before Carney will get a first-team chance.

Congratulations, Jacob! We hope to see you back at Old Trafford soon!
