Manchester United’s summer search for a centre-back eventually came up short, with the club failing to deliver Jose Mourinho someone who could preserve David de Gea’s goal.
However, despite the fact that the Red Devils now have a new manager at the helm, it looks as though Edward Woodward is looking to right those wrongs.
According to Marca, United ‘look set’ to sign the Greece international, Kostas Manolas.
Details of a £32million release clause came to light earlier on in the week, with the AS Roma man free to leave for that fee as early as this coming summer.
If United have indeed won the race to sign the 27-year-old, this is a massive coup. Manolas is great in the air, quick, strong and a real leader. Alongside Victor Lindelof, this could well be a brilliant partnership that offers the perfect blend of aggression and calmness when playing out from the back.
Hopefully, United can push this deal over the line before other clubs start sniffing
