Talks over a potential Manchester United move for Ivan Perisic have stalled, so now, the Red Devils have turned their attentions towards Emil Forsberg. That’s what The Sun writes, as they cite The Metro. Forsberg, 25, was a key part of RB Leipzig’s mightily successful debut season in the Bundesliga.
The Swede made countless assists for his team-mates last term, and he’d be a great player to have due to his versatility, as he can also play through the middle as a #10 if needed.
However, Leipzig won’t want to be parting with their key stars as they look to build upon what was a season to remember for them last season – hence why the aforementioned article claim that Forsberg would cost £45million if any deal were to happen.
At 25, he still has his best years in front of him, whereas Perisic is in his late 20s now – meaning we’d get a good three of four years more service out of Forsberg. Obviously, that’s hugely beneficial.
I think that, judging by our pre-season tour, we do need to bring in at least one more attacker, just to help out when the games start coming thick and fast. At times, we’ve looked pretty stale in the final third of the field, and the creativity of Forsberg would go along way to changing that.
