Manchester United have apparently made a club record bid for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
That’s according to The Metro, per the Manchester Evening News. They say that United want to sign the Serbia star this summer; with Lazio trying to hold out for £131million to let him go.
However, the report states that the Serie A side could be tempted into selling the 23-year-old for £96million plus various add-ons and bonuses.
It comes as no secret, United’s midfield needs some serious working on. Michael Carrick has retired, Marouane Fellaini is yet to commit to a new deal and Paul Pogba just isn’t performing.
Milinkovic-Savic has certainly shot to stardom this season with some brilliant performances and it comes as no surprise to see him linked with some top sides.
In a three-man midfield alongside the aforementioned Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, some serious damage could be caused to the rest of the Premier League. Winning the midfield battle is absolutely vital. Just look at how well Manchester City controlled games thanks to the likes of Fernandinho and Kevin de Bruyne…
I’d still be wary about spending a club record fee on signing the Serbia international, though. I’d like to see a more experienced player come in, but I’m just not sure who’s available.
