Manchester United Football Club have been on a real tear recently, though signings still need to be made over the summer. Enter, Victor Osimhen.
This isn’t the first time United have been linked with the Nigerian. Back in March, we covered a story from Le10Sport which claimed the striker would be a ‘priority signing’ for the Old Trafford club.
Today’s update comes from CalcioNapoli24. Apparently, United have made contact with Lille over potentially signing the 21-year-old.
The Red Devils will have to act quick, though, with Osimhen widely expected to sign for Napoli in a deal worth £45m+ (€50m).
Anyway, the story claims that United call Osimhen’s agent ‘hours ago’, to find out whether a deal to Napoli had already been done. At this point, the Nigerian’s proposed move to Naples is deemed as ‘very unlikely’ to collapse.
However, things could change. If United would to make an official proposal, Napoli would feel threat from the Red Devils due to their financial power.
Will a move happen?
At this stage, it does feel unlikely. Things can change quickly in football and if United want their man, they could get him.
Osimhen has scored eighteen goals across all competitions this summer. Aged just 21, he’ll only get better. The problem is, at United, he wouldn’t be a regular starter. You look at the form of Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. Can Osimhen compete with that?
It does feel to me like United have some sort of interest in the Nigerian. I’d doubt that they’re keen enough to make an official bid, though. This is one to keep an eye on over the next week or so. However, I’d imagine a deal to Napoli will be sealed pretty quickly if United don’t act fast.
