Man United have reached out to the agent of Sander Berge, over a potential move to sign the midfielder.
Manchester United could yet look to add a midfielder to the squad this summer, with the Red Devils still looking to overhaul that area of the field, despite the emergence of Toby Collyer.
The likes of Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay have been placed up for sale, assuming the right offer comes in for the pair. Manuel Ugarte has been touted as a possible replacement, though the Old Trafford side are now ready to move on to other targets due to PSG’s asking price.
The Athletic have thrown a new name into the mix; Sander Berge.
Laurie Whitwell claims that United have made initial contract over the signing of the 26-year-old, with the Reds now in discussions with the player’s agent.
To further add fuel to the fire, Burnley are ready to listen to offers for the Norwegian.
Berge is an excellent ball carrier, a solid passer and someone who’d bring some energy to the middle of the park. This is by no means a player who’d be expected to start week-in-week-out, rather someone who can dip in and out of the side as and when required.
The Norwegian is a different type of player to Ugarte in the sense that he’s not an out-and-out defensive midfielder, so that gaping hole in the squad would remain as Casemiro looks every bit an ageing veteran.
If the fee is right, this is certainly a move I can see United making, in order to add some quality to depth to the middle of the park.
