Manchester United need a huge summer if they’re to compete for major trophies going into the 2019/20 campaign.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a massive job on his hands and Edward Woodward will need to give him a sizeable transfer budget to work with.
It seems as though behind the scenes, planning is already well underway with the club trying to make their moves. According to Calciomercato in Italy, United have ‘made contact’ with Juventus in regards to potentially signing Paulo Dybala this coming summer.
The classy 25-year-old has had a forgettable season in Turin, although ironically, one of his goals did come against United in the Champions League group stage before the turn of the year. Apparently, though, the Old Lady could be ready to cash in on Dybala if the right offer comes in.
There’s no doubt that Dybala would be a welcome addition. The fact that he can play as a striker or just in-behind the main forward in the #10 position plays to his advantage, but it would further cast doubts about Romelu Lukaku’s long-term future at Old Trafford.
He’d bring pace, goals, on-ball ability and a sheer willingness to win which can only be viewed as a positive judging by how poor we’ve been on the field this season.
No doubt he’d cost a pretty penny, but if the Glazer family are serious about making United a global powerhouse again, they’re going to have to dig deep into those pockets.
