Man United make contact with Moussa Dembele’s entourage ‘several weeks ago’: report

Manchester United need a contingency plan should Romelu Lukaku eventually leave Old Trafford this summer.

The Belgian’s future has been up in the air for a while now, with Lukaku yet to play a minute of pre-season football, meaning he’s already way off the pace.

Anyway, credit to United as they’re seemingly ready in the event that he does leave. The name that they’ve identified is Lyon striker, Moussa Dembele.

According to TF1 journalist Julen Maynard, United made contact with the 23-year-old’s entourage ‘several weeks ago’ with Dembele being Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ‘personal pick’ after the Baby Faced Assassin watched Dembele and then placed him on the transfer shortlist.

However, as expected, no movement will happen until Lukaku departs Old Trafford, while Maynard also makes it clear that Dembele hasn’t ruled out an exit from Lyon during this transfer window.

With the August 8th deadline closing in rapidly, both the potential suitor for Lukaku and United will have to be on their toes and act quickly – which is something the Red Devils haven’t been good at during this window.

I like Dembele, wherever he has been, the Frenchman has scored goals. The forward would be the perfect complement for Marcus Rashford, although I’m fairly certain Lyon won’t let him leave cheaply – particularly after one season.
