Man United make contact with Willian’s representatives over free transfer: report

Manchester United are seemingly looking to add depth into their attack – which makes sense as the right-hand side, in particular, has been pretty inconsistent over the last few years.

The undoubted big story has been the links to Jadon Sancho. The young Englishman, who currently plies his trade for Borussia Dortmund, has been in the headlines pretty much every day in regards to a potential Old Trafford move over the last few months.

Today, though, a new name has been thrown into the mix. The story comes from France Football, who state that Chelsea’s Willian could possibly be an option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Apparently, United have made contact with the 31-year-old’s representatives as the Reds look to negotiate a free transfer for the right-winger who is out of contract this summer.

This is a bit out of left-field, in my opinion. Solskjaer has shown a tendency to look towards younger players, whereas Willian is at the opposite end of that spectrum.

Sure, he has Premier League experience and Willian could slot straight right into the team, but it seems to me as if United have had some bad news on the Sancho front – and are looking for a stop-gap for a season before trying to get their number one target next summer.

If that’s the case, United could definitely do worse.
