Man United have made Erling Haaland their priority striker target.
Manchester United are continuously linked with a move to sign Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland.
In fact, it’s a pretty safe bet to assume that this story isn’t going anywhere until the Norwegian eventually moves on from his current club.
Over the last 24 hours, the Manchester Evening News have offered us another update on that saga. Apparently, United have made the prolific young forward their ‘priority’ striker target.
What’s interesting is that Jadon Sancho also gets a mention. Despite being the Reds’ top target last summer, they’re now less keen on moving for a winger this time around – after spending £45million on Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri.
In another summer where money is likely to be tight due to COVID-19, it would be incredibly difficult to sign both Sancho and Haaland – so United have to prioritise.
Both players are generational talents though right now, Haaland is probably within the top three in the world in his position. Players like that don’t come around very often and if United have the chance at signing him, they should go all-out to get it done. That’s not to say Sancho isn’t a good player, he clearly is.
With Edinson Cavani ageing and constantly picking up injuries, Anthony Martial proving to be consistently inconsistent and Marcus Rashford looking like a far better player out wide, a new striker feels like an absolute must. Haaland would single-handedly change our future as we could really do with a forward who can guarantee 20+ goals a season.
The problem? Every other big club in Europe will be after Haaland and winning that battle isn’t going to be easy…
