Man United have reached out to PSG, over a potential move to sign midfielder, Manuel Ugarte.
Manchester United haven’t really progressed deep with any potential signings this summer, though it’s still early on in the window and time is certainly on their side.
From a fans’ perspective, it would be nice to see some progress soon, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS continue to test the waters over multiple possible squad additions.
Today, a new name has been thrown into the mix; Manuel Ugarte.
It’s Sky Sports News’ Dharmesh Sheth with the information, who confirms that United have made an ‘initial approach’ over the signing of the 23-year-old midfielder.
Ugarte, from Uruguay, is said to be one of a number of players United are keeping an eye on. No formal bid has been made at this point, though discussions are continuing.

Ugarte, a defensive midfielder by trade, enjoyed a positive 2023/24 campaign with PSG, after leaving Sporting Lisbon the summer prior.
A move to sign the man from Uruguay could indicate that Casemiro is possibly leaving, while it also likely hints that Sofyan Amrabat will not be signed permanently, despite rumours suggesting the man from Morocco could stay.
United could certainly do with someone who can add mobility to the midfield. Ugarte would prove that in abundance, allowing the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes the comfort of thriving higher up the field, rather than having to help out defensively.
I would love to see this move happen. Portuguese league products tend to do well at United and this could well be another case of a former Sporting CP player joining United and going on to enjoy major success.
The problem? PSG spent around £50m to sign Ugarte. They’re not going to let him leave cheaply. With money tight for United, this one could be a non-starter if the Ligue 1 side plays hardball over the fee.
