Manchester United have made a late move to try and sign Willian from Chelsea, according to The Sun, as per The Metro. Apparently, Jose Mourinho wants to sign the Brazilian as he looks to bolster his attacking options before the transfer deadline slams shut.
The self-proclaimed Special One has admitted his interest in a wide player and as the clock ticks, Willian is the man that Mourinho is turning to.
As we all know, the Red Devils have already negotiated with Chelsea over the sale of Nemanja Matic this transfer window, but I’m just not sure I see the London side letting go of one of their key squad players so late on in the transfer window.
At 29, Willian knows the Premier League inside out and has previously worked with Mourinho; the pair have won trophies together, and they’ll know each other well.
I’d have no doubts that the Brazilian would fit straight into our line-up pretty seamlessly, but, as previously stated, I just don’t see Chelsea letting another player leave for a direct rival – unless they can replace him with some real quality before the deadline slams shut.
Time is ticking…
