Man United make offer for striker Timo Werner: report

In January, Manchester United Football Club signed Odion Ighalo on a short-term deal. The Nigerian is yet to make a start for the Red Devils, though we’re yet to learn what sort of impact he’ll have.

One thing is crystal clear. Going forward, the Old Trafford club need to sign a striker on a permanent deal – preferably someone young enough to help in the long-term. Today, a new name has been thrown into the mix, and it was somewhat inevitable…

According to The Athletic, Timo Werner is now on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar. Apparently, United have made an offer for the prolific 23-year-old, who has scored 27 goals in 33 games for RB Leipzig so far this season.

Werner actually has a relatively low release clause, £51million to be exact, though that has to be negotiated before April before it expires. Leipzig were wise to insert this clause as it allows them ample time to work on a deal to sign a replacement.

It’s not all good news, though. Werner is waiting for Liverpool. The German, understandably, wants to join the best team in England right now. United’s chances could definitely improve if they qualify for next season’s Champions League, though we’re going to have to wait beyond April to find that out – after his clause expires…

United could afford to overpay if needs be, but right now, it does feel like he’ll be Anfield-bound. A lot can change quickly in football though.
