Man United make ‘verbal offer’ to Christian Eriksen

Man United have made a verbal offer to free agent, Christian Eriksen.

Erik ten Hag is yet to be given his first signing as Manchester United manager, though the Red Devils continue to move on many fronts.

Deals for Frenkie de Jong and Tyrell Malacia seem close, while a move to bring Christian Eriksen in on a free transfer remains in the works.

Over the last 24 hours or so, the Daily Star have given us an update in regards to United’s pursuit of Eriksen. In an exclusive, they state that United have made a ‘verbal offer’ to the attacking midfielder, in a bid to lure him to Old Trafford.

Apparently, United bosses have held several rounds of ‘positive talks’ with Eriksen, with the club willing to hand the Dane a two-year deal on £150,000-a-week.

However, Eriksen wants to wait to see who United sign before committing his future to the Manchester club.

After suffering a cardiac arrest at the European Championships, Eriksen returned to form with Brentford during the second half of the 2021/22 season. As the campaign wore on, the 30-year-old looked back to his best.

It’s no surprise to learn that Brentford are competing with United to sign Eriksen on a permanent deal, with the London club now having a place in the heart of the player – making it tough for the Reds to bring Eriksen in.

It goes without saying, this would be an astute piece of business due to the lack of transfer fee. Eriksen is a player who knows the Premier League well and he could dip in and out of the starting line-up whenever needed.

At this point, we’re unsure if Eriksen would accept that bit-part role.
