Man United make ‘very strong’ offer for Ronaldo Araujo: report

Man United are seemingly pushing hard to sign Ronald Araujo…

Ralf Rangnick will now realise just how huge of a task he has on his hands at Manchester United.

Not only in terms of improving the current players at the club, but also the blatant need for several new signings to be made.

Midfield and defence feel like the key issues right now, while a new striker wouldn’t go amiss if Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani both leave this coming summer.

One name who has been linked with United recently is FC Barcelona centre-half, Ronaldo Araujo.

Now, a fresh update in that brewing saga comes from Marca, with the translation coming via Sport Witness.

It’s claimed that United have made a ‘very strong’ offer to sign the 22-year-old defender, presumably this summer. In turn, that has made it ‘complicated’ for FC Barcelona to secure the Argentine’s long-term future at the Camp Nou. The report also claims that United face competition, with other clubs showing an interest in the emerging young man.

No doubt Barca are doing all they can in order to tie Araujo down to a long-term contract. But that’s easier said than done given their current predicament. They’re struggling both on and off the field right now, while a move away could be far more fruitful in terms of weekly wage for the player.

I’m not going to sit here and wax lyrical about Araujo as I’ve rarely seen him play. However, United need a major upgrade in that area of the field. Captain Harry Maguire isn’t cutting it, while Victor Lindelof often blows hot and cold. Sadly, you aren’t going to win titles with these guys – and a change is needed.

Would a Man United move for Ronald Araujo make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
