Man United are doing their bit in an effort to tie Marcus Rashford down to a new long-term contract.

Manchester United have absolutely got the best out of Marcus Rashford this season.

The Englishman is hitting heights we’ve not seen under Erik ten Hag, scoring goals and contributing at the highest level. It’s a joy watching the attacker play with a smile on his face again – after a pretty disappointing end to 2021/22.

Last summer, there was plenty of transfer talk suggesting that Rashford could look to move away from United. However, winning a trophy this season, coupled with a boost in his own confidence levels, seemed to have turned the tide back in United’s favour.

From day one, Ten Hag made it clear he’d look to build a team around Rashford – though that meant getting the attacker to commit to new terms. That hasn’t happened yet and his deal continues to tick down.

Well, good news has arrived. It comes via The Telegraph, who state that United are ‘making good progress’ in their talks with Rashford over a new contract for the key 25-year-old.

Rashford will be entering into the final year of his deal this summer, with clubs no doubt sniffing around to see whether the Englishman will actually be available.

However, United have no plans to let their homegrown hero leave Old Trafford. In fact, they’re looking to tie him down, before making a massive move to bring in Harry Kane.

Not only would this be a genuine statement signing, it’d allow Rashford to play as a left-winger consistently, rather than having to fill in at striker, as he has been doing recently.

No doubt signing Kane will not be as easy as that, either. He’d cost an arm and a leg, so let’s just see if this is at all possible…
