Despite being out-of-contract next summer, Luke Shaw is refusing to commit his long-term future to Manchester United.
That’s according to The Sun in an exclusive. They say that the left-back, who has been brilliantly recently, is keeping the club waiting in regards to putting pen on paper.
Understandably, United are keen to tie the Englishman down to a new Old Trafford deal, as to not risk losing him for free.
Apparently, United are prepared to offer him a huge wage hike to around £130,000-a-week in order to convince Shaw to sign, but no deal is in place at this point.
At this point, I understand both parties. United are trying to protect their investment, Shaw is well within his rights to consider his options – particularly as the club have let his current deal run into its final year.
I’d like to think that when push comes to shove both parties will come to an agreement for the left-back to remain at Old Trafford. He has been an absolute joy to watch at the start of this season. Hopefully, the worst of the injuries are behind him and now he can focus solely on football. The sooner the new deal gets signed, the better it is for all involved.
