Man United are keeping tabs on Villareal winger, Arnaut Danjuma.
Ralf Rangnick is now Manchester United manager until the season’s end. With a change in gaffer comes different ideas and tactics. Often, that is directly linked with bringing in new players (and letting others leave).
It comes as no surprise to see the Old Trafford club linked with a whole host of new faces, particularly with the January transfer window looming. The latest name to be thrown into the mix is Arnaud Danjuma.
Cast your mind back to United’s Champions League game against Villareal earlier this season and you’ll remember that Danjuma looking super-sharp against us – giving Diogo Dalot real problems down our right-hand side.
The report from Fichajes speculates at a potential January move for Danjuma, with United, along with Barca, apparently weighing up the possibility of a move to sign the man from the Netherlands.
But would this be the right move at this time?
Well, Danjuma is a winger, so immediately I was left scratching my head.
Obviously, I’m not doubting his talent as a footballer as that would be naive. He’s a fantastic individual who can give any defence problems on his day.
I just think United have other priorities right now. United are well-stocked out wide at the moment, while this 4-2-2-2 system doesn’t really allow wide players to play to their full potential due to the narrowness of the formation.
I’d still much prefer to see us go out there and find the perfect midfielders for this current setup. That said, I don’t believe Rangnick is going to be given a massive amount of money to spend in the mid-season window anyway, particularly as he’s only on a six-month contract.
