Man United have their eyes on emerging striker, Benjamin Sesko.
With Cristiano Ronaldo’s future still up in the air and the season drawing near, Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United is looking somewhat light up front.
I understand that Anthony Martial has started pre-season in stunning form, though it’d be unfair to have 100% of the burden on the Frenchman’s shoulders. Don’t forget Edinson Cavani is yet to be replaced, either.
It makes sense to see United linked with moves to bring in a new forward of some description this summer. Earlier today, we covered a claim from Fabrizio Romano, who outlined an interest in RB Salzburg attacker, Benjamin Sesko.
Now, the Daily Mail have given their view on a potential move for Sesko. It falls in line with Romano’s information, leading me to believe there could be some truth to this story.
They state that United have joined the clubs ‘monitoring’ the 19-year-old Sesko, though the Austrian club don’t want to part with their prized asset. They’re demanding £55million to let him go.
Three sides, Newcastle United, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are all named as ‘confirmed admirers’ of Sesko, while Salzburg would love to keep ahold of the Slovenian.
According to the Mail, United are ‘aware of’ the striker, as they prepare to draw up a ‘list of targets’ in the key striker position. Sasa Kalajdzic and Antony are also under consideration.
Sesko represents a younger option, who’d offer more longevity than most. However, that also comes with inexperience, while making the jump from the Austrian league to the Premier League is a huge one.
Signing Sesko and asking him to contribute regularly in the first-team feels somewhat unfair, hence why in an ideal world, he’d be allowed to develop at his own pace while being helped along by Ronaldo – rather than replacing the Portugal superstar.
